A Guide to Liposuction
Liposuction is used to remove excess fat from different parts of a patient’s body. The fat is not pleasant to look at because it makes them look out of shape. Excess fat can be found in different areas such as the buttocks, hips, upper arms, and thighs. Some women try to change their eating habits to get rid of it, but many times that does not help them.
A liposuction procedure is considered to be one of the best ways to get rid of this excess fat. The liposuction procedure can be performed on one area of the body. Or if there are other areas, it can be done at the same time as the initial area in question.
In order to pinpoint the problem areas, the plastic surgeon will mark the area where the excess fat will be removed. This will help them to remember to target that area; it also helps in the event that there are multiple areas to be targeted. For the most part, the surgeon will administer general anesthesia. There are some cases where they will administer local anesthesia instead. Depending on how long the liposuction procedure will last, the surgeon may also use sedatives or an epidural by way of a syringe and needle.
Prior to the fat being removed, a wetting solution is used. This solution contains saline and epinephrine. The purpose of using this is to prevent the patient from losing a lot of blood. The wetting solution also helps to keep the liposuction procedure safe. During the procedure, the surgeon can use different wetting solutions. The removal of excess fat requires a vacuuming procedure. The surgeon can do this in several ways.
However, before any of this can take place, the liposuction costs must be determined. The patient will need to find out if their health insurance will pay for any of this. If not, then they are subject to use financing with monthly payments. Liposuction costs are not cheap; unless they have additional funds stashed away, financing would be the most viable option for them.
