DR. FRANK LISTA: Breast augmentation is an operation, which is done here in the clinic. Usually it takes somewhere between one to two hours. The operations are usually done under general anesthetic and we have doctors here who are specialists in general anesthesia and it is a very light anesthetic. After it is done, we keep the patient in the recovery room for about an hour to two and then they go home full awake. We have a new technique where most of our patients we use a pain relief pump so it is like having an epidural except it does in the front instead of the back so the patients have virtually no pain. We see them the next day to make sure that they are okay and then for one week we want them to just sit around the house and watch TV. Most people go back to work after a week.
